Thank you for posting this good opportunity in reading Spanish.
On the other hand, getting into foreign hand may be a better option for AeroRepublica and above all the staff members. Coming as handy is probably a new home for Copa last 737-200s.
Some other plus Copa can bring
    - cash
    - share its credit line to renew the fleet by using some of Copa options on 737NGs
    - equal term managerial relations between the Panamean top brass and AeroRepublica managers who will be likely asked to stay.
    - no language barriers between the Panamean top brass and AeroRepublica
    Alain

I agree with HKinLV, sad to see another carrier in foreign hands.
As long as they don't change the Colombian soul of the Airlines and as long as it survives I think I can take it.

      Alain also has somethings right.

...and another one goes to foreign hands.

This may well be CO buying P5, since Continental owns Copa...

AeroRecocha might well change their name to "AeroRecocha, a Continental Airlines company"...

            Since when Continental OWNS Copa?!!!!!!!

I disagree with the statement that CO OWNS COPA. I know that there is a high ownership stake, but COPA essentially runs on its own with its own route network, its own aircraft, and heck! They even run more punctually than CO!
Remember who you're dealing with. I know the holdings stakes are high, but can you substantiate the percentage?
In none of their inflight magazines of either COPA or CO do they put cooperative airport terminal maps of either one.
For their aircraft, they share similar color schemes and cheatline, and similar tail designs, but their route structure is not the same. They have codesharing agreements, but not to a wide extent - to my disappointment, since COPA could put their codeshare flight numbers on flights to CANADA!

              More to COPA! WOOOOOO!

They didn't merge. They just bought a higher investment stake in Aerorepublica. Why then are you mourning and giving a eulogy so quickly?
I'm sure that they are reasonable to grant AeroRepublica some degree of managerial autonomy, no? They can codeshare and expand their Colombian ops. It's great. Maybe they will keep AeroRepublica cabin attendants on intra-colombian flights. Who knows?

Let's chill and see how things turn out.You people sound very anti-foreign. very monocultural i might say. foreign ownership doesn't always mean something bad. it can serve some good.

lets just hope that AeroRepublica grows... let's also hope this means that CO is sending larger planes to Colombia

I read in "El Tiempo" a colombian news paper that Copa only bought 51% of Aerorepublica stake, that was already in foreign hands (any body know who??) and that the airline will mantein itīs independence and plans to grow.
                  Time will tell
