  • AC Jazz may pickup 8-10 CRJ200s from Independence Air

    yyznews.com

)....a story out of Washington suggests that there may be a deal in the works for Air Canada Jazz to pick up an additional 8 to 10 CRJ200s from Independence Air. Independence is anxious to sell off some of their aircraft to maintain liquidity and apparently a deal is close to being signed. These aircraft would be in addition to all previously announced CRJ orders.

Well since it's Independence Air's decision to sell these planes I'm sure it's with their best interests in mind. Why would they sell their own planes to hurt themself?

If nothing else it will give Independence some badly needed cash on hand.
Anybody knows in what shape those RJs are and their age? I should find it myself, but I'm lazy and I know at least a few people here have extensive knowledge

This is probably to give JAZZ some spares since AC MTC (YUL is the worst) can't seem to produce them for the morning start-up and the mainline has to ask JAZZ to bail them out.

Guys, there's something wrong here -- FlyI can't sell its remaining CRJs as they don't own them. All 58 they will have on hand after the latest returns will be leased. That leaves two possibilities: either AC Jazz will lease some of the 25 CRJs that FlyI is in the process of returning to leasers or AC Jazz may sublease some CRJs directly from FlyI. I would think the former is more likely.
