  • Aircraft rental rates.

My son is learning how to fly and we have been comparing aircraft rental cost. He is flying and Alarus trainer here and it cost him $75 per hour wet. This is a great airplane and he loves flying the thing. C-152's cost $90 per hour wet and a C-172 goes for abour $110 per hour wet. What are the rest of you paying?

$73/hr wet for a 152 out at Port Columbus. That's a bit above normal, but it's in tip-top shape and 100LL is $4.08 at CMH. $83/hr wet for a 172.

$110 for a 172 seems pretty high unless it's a new bird. The ones over at Bolton Field in Columbus are $68/hr wet, $76 for a 1998 model.

$64 an hour for the death trap 150 we have here, $69 for the 152, $84 for the DA-20, $104 for the 172R (mine), $114 172RG Cutlass, $149 I think for the DA-40, and the twin Im not sure.

      Thats per hour, without CFI.

                atcvector-

I bet those rates you are paying are with an instructor? Cause when oyu include instruction the rates tend to go up 30-40 dollars and hour from the base rental price.

when i was getting my private, I paid 89 an hour and that included instructor in the Cessna 152. When I was soloing, i was paying 63 dollars an hour.

I bet the guys who have already replied to this didnt consider that in their responses....

Adam: The rates I quoted above are without instructor. Add $25 to $30 per hour for the instructor.

Wow, $90 for a 152 without an instructor is pretty steep. I know at $73 wet I'm paying more than most, but 100LL is over $4/gallon here.
