Do you think they use 737-200 style's cockpit in 737-300 during early 1980?

i believe they did. only recently they added the new glass cockpit, so the 732 cockpit was used in the -300 as well.

Just to add to Alex's post, the glass cockpit for the 737 classic was an option. Continental whose 737 "classics" are about 10-12 years old have a mix of glass and 737-200 type gauges, so it would be hard to tell you a general statement as each airline has a variety of styles.

But, yes, most 737's built in the early to mid 1980's had the "Southwest Style cockpit". However, some airlines have made modifications of adding FMC's to the planes, without glass ND's to see the flightplan e.g. Us Airways.

Yes the 737s' cockpit is really small compared to its competitor; the A32S family.

Oh Canyon hehe. Are the pilots strapped in the WHOLE time? I've been in a bunch of 737 flight decks and have got to sit down on WN. It's pretty cool up there . BTW, Canyon, do you have any preference of taken a -300 or a -700?

This is gonna sound weird but I prefer the -300/500 over the -700. Yeah their older and slower but they make me look good (i.e. I don't "crash" land them like the -700s) and I like the "steam" gauges.

No we don't stay strapped in the whole time and I did get up ONCE to use the restroom but we don't have a lot of space to work with. And it's worse when we have a jumpseater.

BTW I look around for you last time I was in PVD, but I had to run cuz the hotel van was gonna leave us...maybe next month!
