  • Air Mauritius To Buy 3 Airbus A340-300Es

Airbus said Monday that Air Mauritius will buy three A340-300E jets.

Delivery of the 300-seater passenger jets is to begin in the last quarter of 2006, Airbus said.

Airbus A340-300s have a catalog price of $180 million each. The A340-300E is an enhanced version of the jet, incorporating newer technologies such as flight deck equipment, increased passenger comfort and enhanced engines, Airbus said.

    Old news.

Also, despite the aircraft being new-builds, this is not a fresh order for Airbus... but rather, some fancy footwork to replace a defunct order of three.

No, just firming up the order, and keeping the A343 on life support.

Correct. This was just to firm up the order. From www.justplanes.com

                    Mauritius confirms A340 order (Jun 28 )
Air Mauritius has confirmed an earlier placed commitment for 3 Airbus A340-300Es. The aircraft are to be delivered at the end of 2006 and the airline has options on 2 additional aircraft.
                    Thanks,
                    Michael

How am I supposed to know, on this topic I have only relied on German media, and when I hear Schindler, I think Oscar Schindler.

                        Question:
you originally German, or a transplant? Just curious.

I'm a German that doesn't want to be a German, but that would be another story .

                            ...do tell.

Being half-schnitzel myself, I run into a drolly-high number of types from that side of the family who share your sentiments.

                            Explain?

                              Gosh, where do I start:
                              Our politicians suck
                              Taxes are ridiculously high
Fuel is f*cking expensive (of every paid, 73 cents are taxes)
We have a green party in government, hence natury comes before economy (just ask Airbus!)
Medication prices are sky-high (as an example: I'm Lactose-intolerant, hence I need Lactase-pills to be able to eat dairy products. In Germany, 200 pills with 1,000 enzyms each cost 35. In the US, the price ranges from $6,75 for 120 pills with 3,000 enzyms to $13 for 60 pills with 9,000 enzyms!)
Overall, living is much more expansive than in the US
We have too generous rules for immigrants, thanks to the war burden we still have to carry.
And let's not even get started on the attitude-factor.
