How does your religion fly?

Before you answer, consider how many times have you been forced to listen to a flight attendant’s or pilot’s announcement with some religious reference included? I have even seen flight attendants walk down the aisles handing out illustrated religious pamphlets, and know of a pilot who starts every flight off with a short prayer over the intercom system.

On the other hand, I am no longer allowed to say Merry Christmas but instead instructed to say “Happy Holidays” for fear of offending someone with different beliefs. A flight attendant recently got in trouble for telling a religious joke in front of a multi-million mile flying rabbi. She eventually got fired.

I've enver had that happen. No religious announcements, prayers, jokes, songs, bbqs, picnics, or dances on a flight.

I wouldn't be offended if there was though. People are too damn sensitive these days.

That's because religion tends to be the root cause of most of the problems we face in the world today... it's hard not to take offense.

I swear.. if I ever heard a prayer/etc spewed by flight crew on any "secular" airline I would certainly never fly with them again.. nor would I recommend them to anyone else.

I agree 100%, I am paying to get from point A to point B, not to pray!

One time I was travelling on an airline, who shall reamaine nameless (rhymes with Pelta) and on our flight was a congregation of missionaries headed to India for the tsunami relief effort. They began citing Bible scripture, and even had the sensativity to claim that Indians in south India live like "uncivilized people" as well as some incerdibly insightfull views as to how the Tsunami could be realted to a certain biblical event in which " the earth was washed clean". The flight attendant to whom they were talking went as far to keep a hearty converstion while other passenger were waiting for their meals, and congratualte them over the PA when we were deplaning in Paris.

Anyway, if you want to pray or comment ignorantly on other religions, then step out of the emergency exit!

Personally I have never heard any religious comment on any flight. If I did, regardless from what faith, it would not offend me because I am far above any comment that could offend me in one second.

If that airline had good service and a good flight schedule, I would fly them again no matter from what nationality or faith the employees are. After all I am flying around the world.

As a christian, I normally pray before I get on the plane. (I.E. I simple prayer, to keep the plane safe, and the engines etc..)
When I get onboard I just be myself. (Play Video Games, etc..)

I have never encountered any religious incidents on any of my flights.

I agree that people are way too sensitive these days, and political correctness is winning over sensibility, but if the author had not enhanced his descriptions, then that "Bible Bob" stepped way overboard.
Besides, he's not even preaching the proper way. A preacher should explain the goodness of God, how sins are forgiven by Jesus etc... not just go to hell if you're not with us. He's probably not even a real Christian, but only to satisfy his "I am right and you are wrong" ego, and bringing misery to people.

Exactly which "church songs" were they singing? I am skeptical of the flight crew participating. I guess they would be allowed to sing, but not to lead the singing over the PA system. I have never encountered any religions displays on any of my hundreds of WN flights, unless you count "Thanks for flying Southwest and God bless America."
