  • Diversions due to Air France Crash in Toronto

I can name a few I saw on my flight tracker:
3 Delta and 1 USAIR To Toledo.

    4 American West to Cleveland.

    A ton to Buffalo

But one hell of an odd plane I noticed. .... I live in Youngstown and a BRITISH AIRWAYS 777 just emerged in NW Pa but far from Erie and I put the histories on and it had it taken off at Port Meadville. But their runway is only 5200 feet. So I am not sure about this one: BAW99

Are these all directly due to the crash or soem for the weather as well? Did the entire airport close? I can't remember now ... Getting old I guess.

We are assuming its either due to the crash or the weather in the surrounding area. If you think about it, it does seem to be a large number of diversions for one airport so there must be something that is the root cause of the plethora of diversions.

I meant the airport was closed for the weather, but did it close as well for the crash? Or under better weather, would 23/05 still be used to get some flights in/out?

I trust that the return flight back to CDG was canceled for this evening. I haven't seen any communication on AF's site, etc. with particular details in regard to it being cxl'd.

I don't think they have two here. I've seen AF/KLM/LH/OS come and then leave shortly after.

Yeah I would assume that there would not be another jet in YYZ.

I believe so, according to my local news, no new flights were allowed to fly to Toronto until 8:30pm due to the crash. I don't know what was to happen with the other remaining flights, but since there was one less runway, they couldn't handle all the flights so some of them needed to be diverted. It would be nearly impossible to tell whether or not the flights in question were diverted due to weather (causing low fuel) or due to increased congestion due to the closed runway unless someone worked within the adminstration of the airline.
