  • 757 replacement?

Is there an actual replacemnt type for the 757 or Boieng have just done that with the streched 739, and what about Airbus A321, is that a 752 substitue as well?

The A321 was ment to compete with the 757 but the problem was that the A321 had performace issues making the 757 better

Perhaps.....the 321 is a lot lighter, smaller design with approx 20000 lbs less total thrust than a 752. Short of adding a new wing, there was no way it could effectively compete with the 752, which likely was not Airbus' intent in any event. They simply wanted a higher capacity 320, and initially traded off fuel for increased payload. Improvements increased range to transcon in the mid 90s. I think this design has a lot more in common with the 739 in terms of capacity, range, size, power etc.

          Exactly!

Between the 739s and the 787-3 the 757s will find replacements. I think that Boeing might consider a 757 replacement after the 787 is off the ground and the 747Adv project is in it's final stages.

Remeber that Boeing will have to find "replacements" or go into "advanced projects" on thje following existing planes...

737 - I really want to see what they come up with...
747 - That is where the 747Adv priiject comes in....
          and finally the 757!

757 market is pretty much covered with the 7379X and the 783. Thew 737 replacment will probabyl be even closer to the 757 in its biggest version.

The 757 is one of the most profitable airliners ever built, and right now its so profitable there no point in even thinking about a replacement for the next 10 years.

                  Should be the 787-3.

Couldnt be further from the truth, or the 787 would not go into production next year....
