Because an airplane that size is a logistical nightmare...

Boeing has delivered over 15,200 frames, including planes from the MD lines. Orders are over 16,000.

They are able to do it now. They were able 10 years ago. They don't want to. Its that simple. They don't think Airbus can make much if anything off it, so why spend a HUGE amount of money to make another plane that size and split the market and loose money on it themselves? Ability has nothing to do with the fact that they didn't build an A380 sized plane (but it would be prettier than the A380 if they had!)

If you want to ramble on about how great the 737 family is and how many orders is has got go on and on by all means but
    Here are the facts.

The Boeing 737 family was first ordered in 1965.
The Airbus A320 family was first ordered in 1984.

The Boeing 737 family has approx 5965 orders.
The Airbus A320 family has approx 3640 orders.

    Therefore

The Boeing 737 family has on average 149.125 orders per year.
The Airbus A320 family has on average 173.333 orders per year.

    Delivery Wise

The Boeing 737 family entered service in 1968.
The Airbus A320 family entered service in 1988.

The Boeing 737 family has 4908 airframes delivered.
The Airbus A320 family has 2522 airframes delivered.

    So therefore

The Boeing 737 family has on average delivered 132.649 airframes per year.
The Airbus A320 family has on average delivered 148.353 airframes per year.

So go on as much as you want because at the end of the day, Boeings achievement with the 737 isn’t that remarkable. At Airbus’ current rate by the time they have been delivering A320 family a/c for as long as the 737 has been going they would have 5489 a/c delivered, and around 6413 orders.

If you are going to compare the A320 and 737 families, don’t just say the 737 has more orders and delivers and therefore is better, compare how long its been in service and how many orders/deliveries to come to a conclusion.
Nice one simpleboy....that will shut up the pro-Boeing lobby....Anyway congratulations Airbus, heres to the next 4000....

Ill compare other a/c at another time, it's just certain members were boasting about the 737 family, so i had to put it into perspective.

I think we've already moved on from the 737 numbers... See the total orders/deliveries numbers

I think we should talk about 777/767 vs 330/40

I wonder if Boeing will celebrate its 16,000th delivery in 2-3 years, maybe the 5,000th 737 (very likely), or 600th 777 (less likely).... No doubt we'll be notified when those above events happen by at least 2 people now

The current Boeing company has delivered 16,733 commercial jet aircraft. WAY TO GO BOEING!

That averages out to about 335 orders per year for Boeing over the last 50 years as opposed to Airbus' average of around 138 per year for the last 29!

It would have been great if that 4000th planbe had been the 1st A380 delivered! Anyway, well done Airbus! They have come a long way in quite a short time. I am a die-hard Boeing fan, but this is more than good news for Airbus, but good news for the industry. Just to be silly, and in no way to stsrt an A vs B war, how many airplanes has Boeing delivered?

Your avatars aren't impressive either. Again, you've conveniently failed to take time into the equation which only serves to distort the success of Airbus with respect to Boeing. You clearly have no idea what you're bleating on about.

They should have a parade and a big marching band and another 4 hour long ceremony with the electronic wizard guy like they had with the A380 rollout. I can't stand myself over this! OMG, as a Boeing fan, this makes me cower in my boots and want to pack up and buy an Airbus baseball cap! Holy Smoke! WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW! ~

The 737 is at something like 5,200. I am not impressed.
Trust you to say something stupid like this. Has it ever entered your mind that Airbus hasn't been around nearly as long as Boeing? Of course not, not much ever seems to. As per your companion above, you clearly have no idea what you're bleating on about.
