  • Continental European Additions in 2006

    First round of announcements:

    Barcelona, beginning in May, 2006 with 757 service.

    Moscow is expected to be announced by October commencing in April, 2006 with 767 service.

    Two more European destinations are expected to be announced to begin in 2006. One of which will likely be a destination in the UK, Switzerland, or Germany. The second destination may be a city in one of these three places, but also Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, or an Eastern European destination is likely.

          Sorry, I meant they are looking for access to the Liechtenstein market. ThyssenKrupp is looking for easier access to and from this region to the states and can promise a minimal amount of daily traffic.

          Copenhagen's been talked about for the last five years.

          I think it's to the point where I'll believe it when I see it.

            Switzerland?? There are already daily flights to Geneva, as well as to Zurich. Where else do they want to go? Basel? I don't think so!

              Leichtenstein, which has virtually no market as its very very small, ive been there, if anyone else has they know what I mean by small, the best place would likely be Innsbruck or Zurich.

                In fact their is a small airfield at Vaduz, the capital city of the principalty.
                Otherwise, good to see a US airline back to Barcelona.

                  Try telling that to Delta .
                  As for Liechtenstein, well, the closest airport there is Friedrichshafen in Germany. Hmm, EWR-FDH...
                  somehow that doesn't seem right .

                      Guess again. It's been floating around the rumor mill.

                      As mentioned earlier, ThyssenKrupp, the Halliburton (except less corrupt) of Europe, has a lot of investment in that neck of the woods and has been looking for a subsidiary shopper for service for about a year and a half now. (similar to the Glaxo RDU-LGW deal with AA).

                        I just cant wait untill continental can get a hold of a 777-200GE lease or the 787's to arrive. Then we will see some more routes that are out of the range of the 757!

                              CO = Continental
                              C0 = Centralwings (Polish LCC)
