  • AC wants to fly to CAN, GVA, THR, CAS, AKL, NCE, DXB, KHI, CAI, MOW, ATH, WAW, MNL...

Interesting presentation from Air Canada for fund managers:

See the route map on page 34 and 35 of the PDF file.

Air Canada wants to expand to scores of international destinations.

I am interested in one in Asia which name is covered by the red dots of Osaka and Nagoya. AC wants to fly there from Vancouver. It's represented by a green dot located in East China Sea (south of Seoul, east of Shanghai and west of Osaka). The name of the destination starts with a 'T' and the rest of the name was covered by the red dots of KIX and NGO. Can anyone figure out what that could be?

They may also finally get permission to fly to Beirut, however all this sounds too good, especially all the exotic places listed, lets wait and see.

Emirates are planning Toronto service in April 2006, and are also keen on Montreal and Vancouver.

Emirates has been promising service for some time, however I believe Eithad was awarded the routing from the Canadian Government. Service from Dubai should be starting soon, with a stop somewhere in the UK.

Sirr Cathay, there seem to be a problem with my computer, Can you tell me when they will expand ? I like the routes that they want to fly too. The one to DXB, will there be a stopover in europe `? or would this be a non stop flight ? And it sure is great to see them wanting to fly to MNL ..

Note that the route map is just a presentation to financial analysts and fund managers of CIBC, so that only represents where AC wants to (or wish to) fly to. No dates are set for actually starting any of those services.

          Routes include:
YYZ-DXB, TNR, KHI, BOM, CAI, ATH, MOW, WAW, MAD, PVG, ICN, PEK, Guatamala City, Georgetown, Quito, Guayaquil, San Salvador
          YUL-NCE, GVA, CAS, BEY
          YOW-FRA
          Halifax-FRA
YVR-AKL, MNL, CAN and the unknown city starts with T that I want to know what it is

All routes are shown as non-stop, but again, it is probably a very high-level presentation and not the actual routing that AC will use, IF they ever fly to those places at all. Looking at the map, AC would need dozens more 767 to fly all those routes.

Oh yeah definitely. But dont they need a330's instead of the B767's ? I mean there's no doubt available b767's around in the world to be leased. Anyhow I wished AC proceeding this expanding part, wether with current or stil non existent aircrafts like you says ! LoL They're NOT going anywhere ...

My computer doesnt allow me to view that map but based on your geographical description the location sounds like it is in the spot where Taiwan would be. Hopefully this answers your question.

If Ac gets with the program and re orders the 777 and 787, then afformentioned routes are possible. They have 763's that are quite long in the tooth and are in need of replacing. They best have the equipment to do the job if they're serious!
                      Who's on first?..........

Right... I don't know why but somehow I have completely erased that island off my mind... I keep thinking about a location in Japan or southern Korea.

                        So it's Taipei. Obviously.

A travel agent at a FlightCenter agency told a friend of mine the same thing when he was looking to book 18 tickets to Taipei for his wedding. It would be nice to fly AC insted of American. We shall see.

Seeing AKL here would be great. 787s would work well, perhaps even extend the service onwards to MEL?

                              Cathay Pacific, Tianjin, China perhaps?
