In a major deal, Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher Airlines today ordered 30 A-319 and A-320 aircraft from European manufacturer Airbus Industrie worth $1.9 billion.

Just to add to the info. Mallya had told the press that apart from the ATR's he would be ordering more Airbus narrowbodies. Well, gret news for him and Airbus I guess.

      Re:

Isn't that the old order it placed for 30 Airbuses? Or is this on top of what was already ordered?

To add to the previous news, Air Deccan is planning on starting a new airline in Sri Lanka. Don't believe me?

      From www.justplanes.com:

      Air Deccan
Air Deccan is in the process of launching an airline in Sri Lanka. The low cost company would operate to the Gulf area, India and Singapore.

Hmm, looks like more good news for Airbus.

Whoa! Now that I think of it, that makes perfect sence to have another airline in Sri Lanka, kinda like all of the start-ups in India. I know that they will do well, and with all the growth in the reigon they may even do better there than in India. I wish them the best of luck.
