Well if thats it, I remember comming back from YVR to YYZ late, and they "closed" terminal one for matanince and cleaning. We wernt allowed in the terminal boarding area, though we were allowed in the check in. Im not sure if many aiports are open for 24 hours, as many close down cause traffic winds down. Some have to close down at night if there smack in the suburbs like YYZ.

Im not sure, but not many airports around the world has departures or arrivals around the clock. Well maybe a few, but what airport, I wouldnt know.

As far as I know (but I MIGHT be WRONG) Toronto Pearson airport is closed between 4 and 6 am. But if i'm wrong correct me.

My local airport, Copenhagen airport is closed between 0230h-0525h.

I think its 2300h, cause I arrived there and we were the last to arrive. Dale, can you shed some light?

Thats doesnt mean an airport closing just because you are the last that arrived, how about those who's departing @ 0030h ?

AFAIK no flights depart out of YYZ at 0030h because its NIGHT TIME and YYZ is VERY close to the suburbs where people live and sleep.

I wonder FRA airport has some flights between 3am to 5am. I mean the red eyes.

Im sorry, I wasnt referring to YYZ's operations after midnight, it was just an example because Im not familiar with YYZ ops.

Oh, well while were on the same page, heh sorry for being smug. Different Airports have different night flight proceedures (duh). I read someware that departures for YVR can be allowed off of the 26's past 2200 but not off the 8's and that arrivals can come in as late as 0 hour.

I have experienced dozens of times where I can hear loud activity @ the airport, (I live around 15 mins from it) as late as 0200h ... Something this has been issued at the local Municipal due to disturben neighbores !!

To let the airport disban its operations after midnight, allowing the neighbores "some time off " from around 0100h-0600h . . . . . .
But like you said, it varies from airport to airport, but it all depends how close they are to the city og suburbs...

YYZ never closes. While there are no scheduled commercial departures between 1 am and 6 am generally late flights can receive permission to land up to 3am. As well commmercial jets can receive permission to depart up to 3am (must be a mechanical reason).

Prop acft can operate 24 hours a day.

Several airlines have pushbacks before 6am, however wheels up is 06:00. As well AC has several 06:00 arrivals. Permission must be received to land before 06:00. Usually it is NO so you will see acft circling YYZ waiting for a wheels down at 06:00
