Got this in a email a few seconds ago...

Plug pulled on B767 polish program – Evaluation trial reveals maintenance costs outweigh benefits. Following a three-month test phase, Air Canada Maintenance has opted not to proceed with the polished B767 program. The paint-stripping process, which shed approximately 360 pounds from FIN 613, translated to annual fuel savings of some $24,000. However, teams that analyzed how the polished fuselage stood up against harsh operating environments determined the extra maintenance costs outweighed the benefits. Moreover, the silver fuselage was given “low scores” from an aesthetic perspective. “Keeping safety as our number one priority, we will continue to explore all possible areas to reduce costs and offset record fuel prices,” said Jon Turner, Vice-President, Air Canada Maintenance. FIN 613 will be repainted in the spring as its operating schedule permits.
    Pretty intresting.

Finally Air Canada made a great decision. It was the ugliest S.O.B I've ever seen. Such a shame for 767.

Good to hear it will be painted again; the bare metal doesn't do it for me

Well, at least they took their time in the careful evaluation of the pros and cons of such a lack-of-a paint scheme .

Well, I hope it isn't painted before I go to YYZ in April! I would like to see it And I think it looks good. Although I did have reservations about the maintenance side of things.

Arrive 27th leave 1st May. Basically it's an (looks furtively around room) (whispers) A.net meet. But I intend to go to Hamilton, Niagara, Downsview ( I've asked Bombardier if I can have a tour) and maybe even another trip up the CN Tower.

If you fancy meeting up somewhere, let me know. I'll have a car.

If you consider leaving a day or two later, then I could join you. I have my last exam on 1st May.
