  • Air Canada A320 vs. Loose Dog

    Well boys and girls, the hype at YHZ is over now. About 2 weeks ago a dog got loose in AC Cargo because of a crappy kennel with the twist lock instead of the squeeze lock. So the dog got lost, everyone looked for it and when we thought it was gone for good, SMACK, hit by an A320.

    A dog that got loose recently at Halifax International Airport spent two weeks running around the airfield before it was struck and killed by a landing passenger jet.

    The pooch was supposed to be leaving Halifax on an Air Canada flight around June 10. But it escaped its cage and bolted out of the plane’s hold when the door was open...

    ...The pilot of an Airbus A-320, en route from Montreal to Halifax on June 26, initially thought he hit a coyote while landing on Runway 23...

    ..."This is a small to medium-sized dog up against an A-320," Mr. Spurway said...

    RIP Doggy !

    * Clean up on aisle 5 *

    Must have been graphic to see the dog splashed out on the runway.

            Yes, shame on him for breaking out like that. The dog's fault entirely

                Doggy was not the first and won't be the last of its kind ... far from it. Good to read this one did not end with some bad consequences.

                  He got nailed by the landing gear, he did not get sucked into the engine (like the damn birds do).

                  One of the gov'ts dogs (Agriculture Canada I believe) got run over in YWG a couple of weeks ago by (wait for it) an Air Canada Airbus. He had ran away from his handler and was out on the active runway.

                  I'm not sure if that is better than the time the Mounties shot a dog that got out of its kennel in YUL. I think calling the dog might get him to come back, plugging him with three rounds tends to upset the Customers.
