  • Air Sahara orders 10 737-800!

Indian airline Air Sahara has ordered 10 Boeing 737-800s in an order valued at around $700 million at list prices.

Air Sahara placed the order earlier this year and was listed as an "unidentified" buyer on Boeing's Web site. Deliveries of the Renton-built 737-800 model are expected to begin in mid-2009, according to Chicago-based Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA - News).

The planes will be built with blended winglets, the wing-mounted devices that increase a plane's fuel economy, Boeing said.

Air Sahara is based in New Delhi and has 134 daily flights in India and internationally.

Well this is good news. Ever since the collapse of the merger, I assumed that things weren't going so well, but hey - well done Air Sahara. Has anyone heard about their U.S. service? When is it set to begin?
Whatever is necessary, is never unwise.
