  • Brazillian ATC System Labor Problems

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 7 (WorldACD) - Brazil's air traffic controllers are continuing a work slowdown that has delayed some flights up to 20 hours and forcing some airports to limit takeoffs to one every half hour.

The controllers are protesting the suspension of 10 colleagues under investigation in connection with the September 29 airliner crash over the Amazon. It was the worst aviation disaster in the nation's history, killing 154 people.

Tam SA, Brazil's biggest domestic airline, was forced to cancel more than 30 flights last week, including 23 on November 2, a national holiday. The government is considering bringing back retired controllers to ease the flight delays.
