Belgian cargo start-up Cargo B Airlines will take delivery of its first Boeing 747 in late August.

Cargo B Airlines, led by former SN Brussels Airlines chairman Rob Kuijpers, is slated to begin operations this October. It is planning to serve destinations in the Middle and Far East, Africa and South America.

It is planning to launch with two Boeing 747s, with a third due to join its fleet on 1 April 2008.

A statement from Cargo B says: “We proudly present our first Boeing 747 freighter in its new livery, fresh from the paintshop in Paris. The first 747 for Cargo B Airlines is expected to arrive at Brussels Airport during the last week of August.”

The start-up has extended its management team to include cargo director Gerard ter Bruggen, formerly cargo manager for Dragonair and sales manager with Martinair.

Based at Brussels, ter Bruggen will oversee the airline’s day-to-day commercial activities.

Former Brussels Airlines flight operations VP Dirk Vrebos has also joined the Cargo B Airlines team as operations director. He has previously worked for Virgin Express, Sabena and Thomas Cook Airlines in various management and postholder roles.
