New SAS Q400 episode

Hi all,
This afternoon SAS had another incident with the Q400 with a righthand gear collaps.

There was no fire and all are out and safe.

Ahhh again?!?! I thought they tested and passed to revised new parts and fixed properly now. What's going on with engineering and designer factory?

You'll never know if failure again then all planes would have been banned and grounded for a long time!

I haven't really been following the whole Dash-8-400/SAS situation, has it been attributed to a fault with the design, or just improper maintenance?

I believe it has been attributed to corroded screws in the landing gear system of the Q400. They were discovered in 25 of SAS's 27 Q400s. Whose fault that was I do not know.

i saw the thread over at airliners, again? they should just redesign the whole landing gear system, seems they haven't figured it out yet

Just been to the airport snaping a few shots! This one (LN-RDI) didn't have the same fault as the other two as it landed with only one main gear down. The other two had all 3 gear down on landing but one main gear collapsed on impact.





As these photos are not good enough for uploading I'll post them here. They were shot hand held from both sides of the airport, using 1000mm in well very dark conditions!

That doesnt sound nor look good to SAS anyway. what are the chances that it will happen to the same type x three times x same airline. Passengers won't dare ever flying with Q400 again? ... If you fly on this type with SAS, you're playing with the devil. But good to hear, no one got hurt !

Mishap on flight OCT. 27, 2007 had crew 2+2 pax 40( 2 children) . Latest info is : All Q400 within Scandinavia now officially
grounded 09:00 PM local time, Oct 27, 2007......

Oh, I think that long-time Norwegian operator Wideroe is very happy with their Dash 8s and Norway is part of Scandinavia
