Apart from those impressive looking front fans on the RR engines on the 787, the rear section of the engine cowling is corrugated?? is that the right term?
Is this a noise abatement measure? as well as looking extremely cool.
I take it you are referring to the so-called Chevron Nozzles, and yes, they are on the engines to reduce the noise emissions by the engines, around 6db IIRC.
not only the trent but the ge engine will also sport those chevrons, wich is awesome, when u have something that looks good and reduces noise, its cool, but the engines will the difficult to tell appart
