  • Introducing VivaAerobus!

If you are thinking about making plans for Spring Break or a summer vacation, Mexico might be a good destination.

A low-cost Mexican airline is starting service out of Austin flying non-stop to Cancún, Guadalajara, León, Monterrey, Puebla and Queretaro.

Mexico's VivaAerobus is a no frills airline and will have a new terminal with no jet bridges, baggage handling, gates, or ticket counters.

Tickets are set to go on sale in a few weeks starting at just $9.99. Flights are scheduled to start in March.

    The airline's website looks interesting.

What is going on in Mexico these days? By next year, how many LCCs will be operating within Mexico?
Whatever is necessary, is never unwise.

The taxes and fees are what will kill you on these fares i looked up a sample fare from Juarez to Monterey and it workes out to about $85 for a round trip 2 weeks in advance. with $37 for the fare and the rest eaten up in taxes and fees.

Well, in fact taxes and TUA ( airport user fee ) are high in Mexico, but not as high as you mention, i have paid $1,846.80 MXP, about $180.00 US Dlls for 4 round tickets from QET-MTY-QET with this airline (VivaAerobus) finding 1 peso promo fare, as far as i knowm Viva will began operation from/to AUS on March/08 with promotional fares starting as low as $9.99 Dlls before taxes, i think that a round ticket with all taxes and extra fees will be around $80.00 to any of the destinations and i think that a round flight AUS-CUN-AUS is a real bargain on that price.
Let me make a suggestion; buy your tickets 3 months before your flight date.
