When exactly were they going to start flying? Haven't they had one sitting on the ground for like a year now?

The first one was supposed to enter service sometime this year, so I guess it will be flying soon. The addition of new a/c will be slow due to the aquisition of second hand aircraft from carriers that are still getting their use out of the planes. Then there's the conversion time to factor in.

FedEx should have 5 or 6 757's in service by November this year. Conversion airframes are available in sufficient numbers to support the conversion lines available. The first two aircraft (one at Mobile, Al the other in Singapore) are being used to fine tune the tooling and processes to build all the ones in line.
The conversion process should be reduced to 4 months for the second aircraft line and three months for the second aircraft down each line.Don
Standard practice for managers around the world:
Ready - Fire - Aim! DAMN! Missed again!

I spotted a FedEx 757 still in pax config at Seatac Airport a few weeks ago.
Here is a thread I made about it: http://forums.jetphotos.net/showthread.php?t=42664
