IMHO the business model used by SkyBus was flawed from the beginning.

On the other hand ATA's business model was a good one for any former time until the change in the Chapter 11 law.

Chapter 11 was a safety net for all U.S. corporations. Under the old law you could be bankrupt and operate as long as you complied with the instructions of the bankruptcy court.

With the change in the law, it's much harder to avoid chapter 7. Which is where several of these Chapter 11 events of the last few years would have ended up under the current law.

Relax, I've been sending e-mails too to whatever contact e-mail was provided. I've been requesting anything that they're going to throw away(saftey cards, boarding passes, bag tags, ect). Champion actually said they'd be more than happy to send me stuff.

I can't think of another reason to e-mail them...

I've been away all weekend and jokingly thought to myself "who has folded since I left?" At least it was only Skybus...I can't say I'm going to be disappointed.

I hope another ULCC can come along in the US.

But I really hope that if there is another ULCC that they will have a better business plan, and waayyyyy better customer service than Skybus did. and I hope they will take things more slowly and put a lot of thought into route planning/hubs.

They will be giving Air Canada it's two A319's back. Wonder if they paid any of the lease?

one of my friends told me that he heard that they might try and restart ops.

I hope they do, but this time they better have:

              CUSTOMER SERVICE!
              1. better management
              2. better routes
and a whole bunch of other things!

No way. I'm about 100% sure we've seen the last of Skybus. The founders may try and create a new airline, but Skybus is dead.

The founder of SkyBust is blaming the management team that took control of the airline. He says he wants to resurect the airline and be in control this time.

I really hope they don't. It is possible for an airline to restart with sucess, for example, Sun Country, but Skybus isn't Sun Country. IMHO Skybus is quite possibly the worst excuse of an airline in at LEAST the last decade. Though the 80s and early 90s saw plenty...
