I just flew on an Alaska Airlines 737-800. As usual I read the safety card but it was difficult to understand some of the instructions (even though I have helped write them for other aircraft).
It seems like someone has to erect a string fence betwen two points on the overwing exit and a clevis on the wing.
Good luck trying to do this with dozens of passengers trying to exit the aircraft.
