  • SQ announces service to Sao Paulo!

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will make its maiden flight to South America next year when it opens a route to Sao Paulo in Brazil, the airline announced yesterday. Thrice-weekly flights to Guarulhos International Airport via Barcelona in Spain will commence in March 2011, SIA said in a press statement.

WOW! Great to see such new services, and more importantly, how did they get the right to do the SIN-BCN-GRU? Anyway, great news, and I hope that the route is successfull enought to warrant other services to South America!
Whatever is necessary, is never unwise.

Great news! I hope to see SIA 747-400 sometimes instead of a probably-scheduled 777-300ER service

More than just the right to fly BCN-GRU, SQ will have 5th freedom rights on that route. The reason, I think, is because no other airline flies non-stop between BCN and GRU.
