Well, beeing a inhabitant of Argentina I guess I am a long-flights specialist! Wanna go to the US? At least 8 hours of flight. To Europe? At least 13 hours. And what about Australia and NZ? Well, about 20 hours. Mmmm...and Africa? It's not that bad: 7 hours to CPT.
The thing is that after flying lots of time from the southernmost part of South America to Europe or the USA, I decided to sleep, just because I don't want to be dead after the flight.. Fly 5 times FRA-EZE, then, you'll love sleeping on planes.
Cheers

Re:
Ok, first of all, to me, IFE is not only a PTV, but an overhead or a bigscreen. I've flown DL 763ER's, and yes, they do have IFE in the economy class cabin. The bigscreens and overheads are located all throughout the Y class.
And as for the topic, try 9 hours, 30 minutes from BOM to LHR w/o anything. And then again from LHR to JFK. Back in the day, when AI's 742's had no form of IFE whatsoever, not even overheads or big screens. Those were my longest flights w/o IFE.
But, the real in-flight entertainment I had most of the time was (and is) out the window! I don't watch any movies or anything else when I'm in an aircraft. If there's a PTV available, I only use it to track the flight.
Happy Flying!

Guest repliedHow about AirTran's ATL-LAX, ATL-LAS, and (coming soon) ATL-SFO. The Ryan Int'l A320s are fitted with IFE, but AirTran choose not to offer the service (so to keep the same level of service as the rest of AirTran's flights). We're talking about 3.5+ hour flights here.

I think that all flights over 2 hrs should have some form of entertainment.
They should add something on the MD88's and the CRJ's.
Does anyone agree?

ok let me update you all on deltas 763s ER and non ER, i have flown both on the BOS-ATL rout many many many many times,
. delta 763ER, PTVs in firstclass only, in C-class there is one big TV in the middle and also many TVs hanging above aisls
. delta 763 (non er) no PTVs in firstclass just one big TV in the middle, in C-class one big TV in the middle (no over head tvs like the ER has)
so yes deltas 763ER and non ER both have enertainment, remember, the subject isnt "longest flight with no PTV" the sunbject is "longest flight with no entertainment''
all delta widebodys have some fourm of TVs in all classes

I think CRJ's and ERJ's could have some sort of inflight entertainment.

Delta didn't have an in seat screen, but the cabin was equipped with screens on the bulkheads. In 1988, I watched "Major League" on a flight from LAX to DFW on a 767-300, not an ER. The average music choices were available through the headsets, and plugged into the armrests. You know the old style system. I've also watched an outdoors program in the back of a -200 going up to PHL from ATL.
BTW: The entertainment I'm talking about is showing a movie or having the music channels available. Not the personal systems at your seat with all the bells and whistles. I've still yet to fly on anything with that.

Delta's 67s used to have an entertainment system. Hve they been removed? (ERs excluded).

Longest Flight Without Onboard Entertainment
Back to the topic, in summer Delta flies ATL-ANC, which a 7.5 hour flight without entertainment, with a 767-300. Same goes for ATL-LIM at around 6 hours , which is also 767-300(not -ER).

Do any airlines offer Internet while airborne?

I was on SAN-STL on AA and it was on a MD-83 with no entertainment. That's about a 2.5 hour flight, I know that's not too long but that's the longest flight I've been on without it. NW probably has the longest Domestic flight w/o IFE.

Song offers the internet I think.
My longest was CHS-DFW.
I think PHX-CVG is DL's longest flight on a plane with no entertainment.
