  • Evergreen retires B747-200F freighter fleet

Sad to see these Classic's go....

Evergreen International Airlines (EZ, Marana Pinal (MZJ)) has retired its last remaining B747-200(F) freighters from its fleet by December 20 leaving it with a fleet of just three active aircraft, all B747-400(F) aircraft. One of the three aircraft is currently operated on behalf of Saudia (SV, Jeddah King Abdul Aziz (JED)) on a long-term wet-lease agreement. It is planning to eventually add more B747-400F freighters to its fleet again.

They didn't park them until the 24th (last plane).

We caught one of them in PHX on the 21st, it flew 2 or 3 more legs before they grounded it at JFK. I'm really angry because I refused to stay past 4pm or so that day, because they kept pushing the departure time, so the tracker said 1740 but there was no guarantee it was going to depart. I still had a 2hr drive ahead of me so I went home. It departed right around 1740.

We didn't know it, but by then, the first -200 had just been parked.
