AERO LLOYD is Bankrupt!!

Aero Lloyd is bankrupt and has cancelled all flights. The 4000 plus passengers stranded at their holiday destinations will be placed on other airlines. 1200 emplyees will be out of work.

I heard this information on the way to work this morning on German radio news. A sad day.

This news caught me totally off guard. I never heard that they were in any problems. sad indeed . Gotta wonder what the Fc Bayern will do long term.

Hey, looks like Aero Lloyd will be getting 5 million Euros from a Bavarian bank to resume operations.
Half the staff will have to go though.
Operations are most likely to resume on the weekend.

Damn I dunno why I thought AeroLloyd was profitable...oh well it just proves that not even those charter airlines are profitable right now in the aviation industry crisis!!!

I hope they overcome through this I really do!

I also read the news about them restarting services on Saturday, with one or two A-320s, down from 21 A320/321s they had. They are still looking for buyers to save their future.

Just heard that the restarting of services got bumped into the middle of next week.

Wow, I didn't know that it's only going to be with one or two of the aircraft! I figured most of the aircraft would be in service again.
