  • Skymark Airlines First A380

Skymark Airlines' first A380 (MSN162) has arrived in Hamburg for painting and outfitting...

    Cheers,

Will be interesting to see how they try to make the A380 work for them, when a) so many other airlines seem to be running them more for prestige rather than economics, and b) the two major Japanese carriers decided not to fly the A380 at all.

From my understanding they wanted to commence longhaul flights to New York, London and Paris with the A380s. Would be interesting to see how they compete on those sectors against quite a bit of competition. They will have to offer something pretty special to draw the business travellers away from the already established airlines which can offer onward connections in some cases at both ends rather than just point to point traffic.

The airline announced its intent to use the aircraft on long-haul trunk routes out of Narita Airport such as London, Frankfurt, Paris and New York, and that they would be operated in a two-class, 394-seat configuration – with 114 seats in business class and 280 in a premium economy class. Business Class will be equipped with angled lie-flat seats at 60 in (1,500 mm) pitch and 20.7 in (530 mm) width, while "shell-style" seats at 38 in (970 mm) pitch and 20.5 in (520 mm) width will be offered in Premium Economy.

So, per the Bloomberg release it seems that it's going to be an 'all premium' A380 on the hops over to LHR, JFK, FRA, CDG - with LHR being the first to come online. I though that all of these would be hard slots to come by, but then again - why not.

Also, at present - the airline codeshares with no other airline.
