There was a great evolution between the mid-1960's, when the 737 was designed and the late 70's, when digital autoflight came to be the future of commercial aviation. The 737 is the only major passenger airliner airframe from that era still in production. Not only still in production, but marketed as a modern, 21st-century aircraft!
As a result, three full-fatality design-driven accidents have occured which would not have occurred on another airframe. All of those design issues are related to complex adaptations of the original design needed to keep the 737 in the modern day market.
So, again, How many of those fatal hull loses on the A320 are involving system failures that directly cause an upset?
I don't know.
That's three for the 737 in the past four years. I'm not saying it's a death trap. I've flown on it twice in the past month. I'm only saying that it has no place on a 21st-century production line.
