And remind me why we banned smoking on flights… Ah, I remember, it was done by a Senate appointed subcommittee out of concern for public health. The nerve!

So let’s get rid of that too. We deserve to fly unbelted while honking on a cancer stick. Because Cancer’s gonna cancer, and we are a nation of webels, and ‘Freedoms’ (TM)
better yet, let's get rid of whiny, left-wing radicals that want the US to be a total nanny-state.

jesus man! you should be locked up for even thinking such a thing!!!

let me go out on a very thin limb here and say that despite all the science, we all managed to survive childhood riding bikes without helmets. uh, well, maybe not evan.

        Just being factual.

I had my share of crashes and also grew up during pre-helmet days. (Cue the head injury jokes)

There's probably a good statistical argument that bicycles should be banned.

But, I think it’s an important part of growing up, fun and good exercise.

So, I accept the risk for myself, watched the kiddo crash a few times too.

Life has risks…including CoVid and Bicycles and Airliners.

        Evan struggles with that.

There's nothing funny about traumatic brain injury. We shouldn't joke about it.

          But thanks for explaining yourself.

              • and now, some 7 weeks post ridding the US of the mask mandate for travel, the deaths and out of control numbers of severely ill, have quite unsurprisingly FAILED to materialize. and now inbound air pax don't need tests!?!?!?!?!

HOLY HELL! The world will certainly dissolve!

Since the beginning of April, daily reported cases in the US have risen from a bit over 20,000 to almost 110,000 (multiply that by ten for actual cases). That's an almost 400% rise! About 1 in 3 of those cases will develop long term complications, some debilitating. And this is occurring when cases should be going DOWN not UP.

Since the beginning of April, hospitalizations have followed a similar trend, further burdening the healthcare system. And this is occurring when that burden should be EASING, not INTENSIFYING.

I think what you are saying, TeeVee, is that the easing of mask restrictions has not affected YOU in any negative way.

But in Florida, daily reported cases have increased almost 10-fold (Miami is currently a hot spot). And many of those are re-infections, some of which require hospitalization. So embrace your good fortune but don't push your luck.

it's a damn right wing conspiracy to cover-up the truth!!! a 400% rise and not a single left-wing/mainstream media source is screaming about this 24/7? could it be that blaring about covid-19 is pissing off advertisers? or maybe the ukraine war is just sexier? or maybe, evan's numbers are wrong.

daily reported cases of positive infections of a CLEARLY, very much less deadly variant means what? i'll tell ya: it means this is where human biology kicks in and we learn to live with this thing like we've lived with the flu. yes, it's gonna kill some people. yes, some people are gonna need to be hospitalized. yes, some people are going to have lasting effects.

know what? alcohol consumption causes the same things and has for many, many years, and not only do we not avoid it, we friggin celebrate it and promote it.

I’m sorry, do you suppose the long Covid rate has expired? The most recent studies put it at around one third of all known cases. Even if it were one fourth or one fifth it would be plenty of reason not to dismiss the virus as harmless. Even if it were one sixth, that’s Russian roulette! But it isn’t one sixth. It’s one third.
