  • Yet another reason why BoeingBobby can be glad to be retired

Poland is claiming that Russian saboteurs had been involved in sending parcels containing hidden explosives and dangerous materials via major air courier operators. The parcels then spontaneously burst into flames or blew up.

Western officials believe the fires originated in electric massage machines containing a "magnesium-based" substance.

On three days in July, fires broke out in a container due to be loaded on to a DHL cargo plane in the German city of Leipzig, at a transport company near Warsaw, and at Minworth near Birmingham, UK, involving a package described as an incendiary device.

The incident at Jablonow near Warsaw took two hours to extinguish, according to Polish reports.

    Diabolical.

Diabolical indeed. British and European intelligence agencies have apparently advised cargo operators to use extra vigilance. Three things about this story don't quite add up though. Firstly, it seems the devices were just magnesium fire starters. Such devices, although clearly deadly in the air due to the difficulty of extinguishing the magnesium oxidation process, are readily available on the Internet. This type of attack doesn't really have the fingerprints of a state-sponsored actor. Secondly, if the objective is to bring down an aircraft (assumed, but far from certain here) then why not use PETN instead of magnesium? A PETN explosion is much more violent and it's as easy to embed a lethal quantity of the explosive in an "electric massager" as it is in a pager. That said, the suggestion that it's a "test run" is clearly ominous. Perhaps the perpetrator(s) are trying to establish which substances can be detected by package screening and which cannot. Thirdly, arrests have already been made, in Poland, and four men have been charged with "sabotage or terrorist operations on behalf of a foreign intelligence agency". All the packages were destined for the UK. Why?

Here's a picture of one of the DHL pallets in the process of being loaded at Leipzig:

And now, what do we learn from that?

On March 3rd 2010, Chief Flight Captain Chesley Sullenberger III retired.
        (from the German Sullenberger wikipedia)

I am happy to say that, Sullenberger retired early enough. At the age of... (born January 1951 minus 1 plus 2) ... 59?

So. But what does that mean for me? Bob has left behind alot of shit for me?

... not always the late birth is an advantage...

You have much to learn about being diabolical.

By using readily available materials, you don't leave the fingerprint of a state-sponsored actor. Unlike terror groups, states do not want to take credit.

They probably wanted this to appear to have been an accident, a random fire caused by some hazard in the cargo. PETN leaves residue, and investigators will find it.

I'm not saying it's true, but it does add up.

Good that you are offline my friend. Or do you only simply hide, as you always do? Poor old guy...

PS: He still thinks that he is somebody. The good old 747 Flight Captain. Which is not the truth. Today he is too old to be true!

.... Let me look for the translation of Blutrausch, everytime when I have to read this .... sozial empathisch minderbemittelter alter Mann.

                Bob?

PS: Well. Does he know what the advantage of the late birth is? Obviously not really. So.

Bob, let me explain that to you. The advantage of the late birth, and I am not happy to say that, that even contains you!

With 'advantage of the late birth' the generation of my father (1945-2009) was named, and the generation of sons and daughters

of the first generation who was too young to be an Air Force Major when World War II began (September 1939).

Bob. Deutsche Geschichte seit 1933 mangelhaft. That wasn't something which I expected from you.... ..... !
