🤢 Unbelievable. This wouldn't be my time in the airline business anymore. I'm really glad that I had to retire prematurely many years ago.

Please know that I roll my eyes at most of this stuff.
BUT JUST TO PLAY DEVILS ADVOCATE:
We are at the point where the plane could just fly itself, or a big computer on the ground does it, so screw the extra toilet and just have the pilot sit back with the passengers and practice on MSFS.
I guess one pilot can sit in the emergency backup driver seat…MAYBE a relief pilot for long flights.
And pay them less, because they really aren’t operating the aircraft.
If you step back to the toilet and all hell breaks loose…is it any worse if they are in the traditional (albeit too small) lav?
Aw well, someone got a LEAN certificate and bonus out of the MBA project…
I respect the collective “glad I’m retired” sentiment.Les règles de l'aviation de base découragent de longues périodes de dur tirer vers le haut.

the need to have two pilots sitting at the controls of commercial passenger aircraft at any one time
As far as the one-pilot cockpit goes, there goes the CRM, task-sharing during an emergency.... If the one pilot is concentrating on flying the plane, who is working the problem?
It is entirely possible to do CRM with an AI 'pilot monitoring', but AI is waaay oversold right now and what if the problem lies there?
And is AI going to keep the human pilot awake with conversation on those long cruise phases?
"Everything is going extremely well, Bob... …Just a moment…Just a moment… I just picked up a fault in the AE-35 Unit."
