  • Anyone remembers this crash?

I remember seeing the documentary during my MCC course and would like to know what airplane/airline it was.

Some years passed so that’s what I believe to remember.

    1. The purpose of the flight was to check the left side ILS instruments.
    2. FO was flying the airplane.
    3. FO was an very low time pilot
    4. PIC was a Check airman of the company.
    5. On the approach there was a discrepancy between left and right side ILS GS indication.
    6. PIC slaved right side HSI to left side HSI
    7. FO realized that the altitude at OM is too low and initiated GA by advancing throttles.
    8. PIC brings throttles back and tells him to continue following the GS.
    9. A/C crashed.

The left Glide Slope HSI indication was out of order and indicated "ON GS" permanently.

I vaguely remember coming across something like this, probably on wikipedia. Check some early airbus testing...

      Is this it?

AN INTERIM report by French authorities into the crash last month of an Airbus A330 test jet in which seven people died appears to point to human error as the cause of the accident.

        Kal 801

This was indeed a terrible accident. It sounds like Korean Air 801, which crashed into Nimitz Hill near GUM. The only part that does not fit the description is it being a test flight. KAL 801, a 747-3B5 (HL746 was a scheduled service from Kimpo Airport in Seoul. The HSI indicated a GS and the crew followed the false signal into the hill even after being informed that the GS was unservicable.
