Finally glad to see you finally seemed to start to admit and comprehend there is more to profiling than your shallow stereotypes.
Overt profiling would be pretty easy for any determined terrorists to get around.

If prisoners can hide grenades and mobile phones internally in their body, it’s not much of a stretch to think that terrorists could smuggle components past security. I hate to post such information and speculation but I have already seen it posted publicly out there; regretfully it seems the masses don’t think it’s possible. If people can hide and grenades in their rectum and vagina and avoid detection at a prison I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to think that a terrorist could hide plastic explosives or liquid precursors in bottles hidden in their body cavities................

Here is what happened in Saudi Arablia recently

      • Lets face it - even if we were to implement body cavity searches a determined terrorist could have a surgical incision and explosives placed in the peritoneal cavity I'd suppose. The only way that would be picked up would be full body x-rays!

Clearly, if/when we get to this level of issue the terrorists need to be stopped by the internal security aparatus of countries. Then again, would the terrorists bother? Why not kill hundreds with a couple of bombs in bags in the subway (see London Underground) - no security there. Why not pick a shopping mall and strap some explosive to a gas tanker? Why not a school assembly (better psycological impact)?

Unfortunately the terrorists have the whip hand here - the best and only real defence we have is to catch these fleas before they get to set their explosives off. Remember that the next time some politician whinges about the cost of ASIS, FBI, MI5 etc.

Often good people have been axed because they aren't political lemmings; so they are used as scapegoats; just to be replaced by incompetent derelicts that grandstand and make it sound like they are making things better when they're spending money like drunken sailors and reducing our security.
You seriously believe that this administration is worse than any other in wastage and misapropriation of public monies? If you do you truly are living in LaLa Land. Wasn't the $6,000 P3 Orion toilet seat issue something that occurred during the Regan (Republican) administration?

          Such as?

They currently already have policies that largely rendered themselves ineffective and counterproductive.
And you are privy to all the classified operations that have been an unqualified success eh? Exactly how many times have our security agencies managed to shut down an operation quietly efficiently without alarming the general public as to what catastrophy was averted? I'd say there would be a huge number of cases where the state security apparatus has beaten terrorists - yet we'll never know because the operations are classified. The only 'members of the public' that do get to see are those senators and members on the committees deciding on the efficacy of these intelligence organisations - they approve the monies - if you don't like what is being spent, talk to them. There won't be much they could tell you except that the money is needed and is well spent. Any poliitician would prefer to see the money going elsewhere - like more pork barrelling in their own electorate, yet they approve the dollars - I wonder why...

No, because we weren't prepared for what occurred. The security measures at the time were not tight enough - knives not allowed but boxcutters were - access to cockpits etc. Even with the best security in the world, terrorists will be able to slip through some of the time.

          In that case, yes.

          • Looks like the attempted attack by a passenger who boarded in Africa has been a wakeup call to African authorities. Or possibly it was the American reaction that they landed on the 14-nation list.
