I just booked AMS-SIN-MEL, BNE-SIN-AMS on SQ (all 772's) for sept/oct. I flew them before on AMS-SIN-SYD, BNE-SIN-AMS and last year AMS-SIN-AMS, 777's and 747's. The 777 is much nicer. There's more legroom and it has bigger seats. The 747 felt cramped. IFE is top notch of course, and -not unimportant- I simply feel safe on SQ. The FA's are a bit drilled to robotic proportions, but they're friendly.
They are definitely not expensive in my opinion, their prices (for AMS-SIN) are similar to KL, LH, AF, BA, etc...

I remember taking SQ from SIN-PER once(usually I fly QF), on a 743(one of the last to be retired).
As a little boy, I was invited to see the cockpit, and when I got there, I was horified to see the windscreen cracked all over. When I asked the pilot about it, he just smiled and told me they were decorations!

on a side note SQ was the cheapest although EK had a huge sale on.

define woman - many people refer to aircraft as "she, or her". I think that defines my post Matt.....to clear anything up with the wife

Hey Dan, I thought that sort of talk belonged in the crew forum where my wife can't read it

Dan, i really like SQ. I used to do LHR-SIN-ADL run a fair bit a few years back, on their 744's and A310's.
More recently its been MAN-SIN-ADL. Preferred it over EK on the same routing. It was 772ER equipment - mostly all with Wisemen3000 AVOD. Food pretty good, service fine, and leg room not too bad.
We gave up flying QF/BA as SQ offered a much better value package.

Im sure your right, although with SQ's exorbitant prices, and the fact that they don't usualy fly from London to LA or JFK i think i'll be sticking to AA in the near future :P

Hey BA747-436, you probably did the worst mistake in your life that you booked SQ flt. Especialy if you are traveling a lot. You'll hardly find the company that will match or overmatch the standards that SQ will give you. That means that if you'll fly SQ once then you have to fly them on all your flights in the future. Otherwise you'll be very sad. :P
SQ never or forever!!!

Oddly enough, I am travelling JFK-FRA-SIN-BLR in 10 days...on the 29th. So thanks for the info from me too!

I love SQ, I flew them to SIN last winter and am going with them again next month, last time I came back from SIN was the only time I ever stayed awake for the full 13 hours of the flight mostly because I was hooked on the IFE all the way. LHR-SIN will be 744 then the PER sector is a 777 (at the moment), hopefully you won't be disappointed although I can only compare them to QF/BA/AA/NW as far as long haul goes which is not much to go on.

I hear that they are still great, but starting to lose that magic touch because of damn low cost carriers.

Hi Dan
Well my experience on SQ is pretty old now, dates back to 1999 (a rtrn CDG-SIN-CDG ,744 both legs, travel agent fam-trip) Even though I was aware the airline was focusing on quality, I was nethertheless IMPRESSED.
Should I am due to fly again even in ten years, will give them a chance.

Hi BA747-436,
I have flown that sector many times with many different airlines and SQ has to be one of the better suppliers. Admittedly, I predominantly fly business and first class, SQ still offer a very amiable economy service.
Other airlines which notably serve that route which I would highly recommend are MH and QF.
