  • WN 1246/631. OKC-HOU-AUS. May 21 (photos included)

Well, we decided to fly Southwest down to Austin, so here goes.
This will be a short report. I am gonna be pacikng for India.

    Date: 5/21/04
    Flight: WN 1246
    Eqquip: Boeing 737-500
    Reg: N520SW

We headed out to OKC and arrived at around 7:00a.m. for our 8:25 dep. Got into the A group as I had had wished and headed straight for security. Lines wasn't to bad here witer, and soon, we were on our way to gate C7. This was my first time flying WN, and I was pretty excited. Then again, I'm excited anytime I fly. The gate podium was unmanned at the time, but looks like WN agents at gate C3 handlle the C7 area also. The plane arrived ahhead of schedule at 8:00a.m. from MCI. Saw freight being loaded in the cargo area. It included a whole boatload of Panasonic high-def flat screen TV's. Boarding soon started and I was about 12th ot 13th in line. As always, the A group boarded first, followed by the B and the C.

Got the first photo from Con C, showing the empty area where Con B was. Got the second pgoto from the aircraft. Notice the OU (University of Oklahoma) tug at the neighboring gate. The tird photo shows the new west concourse and the airside expansion going on, which will ultimately replace Concourse C.

Took off for HOU on 17L and headed SE. rest of the flight was the usual, with the FA's coming around w/drinks and juices. Landing was a bit on the bumpy side due to crosswinds. We landed on 12R. Got this shot of downtown Houston just as we went under the ceiling:

Ok, after landing, we headed straight to Con C. Bummer. This meant i couldn't get in the new WN concourse. Oh well, nnext time I guess. anyway, here are the rest of the photos. Hope you like 'em.

The next plane to AUs from HOU was a 733 in cs #2:
Holding short of 28 for t/o:

The former Robert Mueller Airport. On final for RWY 17L:

The HOU-AUS flight was ppretty quick. The FA's had to stop serving the drinks and peanuts midway. Anyway, we landed and ended up at gate 7. The FA came on the PA and said, "Well now, was that warp-speed or what?!" heh heh.

Overall, a gr8 experience flying WN. I'll definitely fly it again.

The return report will have to wait till after I come back from India. Till then...

    Happy Flying!
