I took this trip around a month ago, on a US Air ERJ, from Philadelphia to Charleston. When I got back, I typed up a trip report, ready to post it, and LOST it (it never saved or something). So alas, here I am again, typing up another (briefer) trip report:
Getting to the Airport
The day before my flight, I had taken the train to my dad's house in Philadelphia, so that I was closer to PHL for my 8:05 AM flight. The next day, I woke up really, really early to bring my dad's dog to his mother's house about 10 min. away, and then got dressed and ready to go. I wanted to get to the airport around 6:45 the latest, so me (and my sleepy dad) boarded the 5:33 R1 train at Jenkintown (the train station closest my dad's house, Ryers, was of no help to us because the earliest train from that station leaves at
, which got to the airport terminal at about 6:20.
Check-in, security, and boarding
Upon getting to the airport, there was nobody at the check in counter; that's right, I was first (well second). Check in was quick (not checking bags), and I had my boarding passes after just about 5 min. in the airport. At security, I wasn't as fortunate. When we got to security, there was one checkpoint open, and about 50 people in line. It was pretty bad. Every like 4th person was being searched and shoes were coming off. Finally, I got through security at around 7. After eating breakfast, using the bathroom, and buying a magazine, I walked out to the ERJ; my first time on an ERJ.
The flight
As a change for a regional flight, the F/A was actually an old man; something I've never seen on any flight. He did the safety briefing, and although was for some odd reason working on a regional flight, was actually one of the most friendly F/A's I've had in a while. He could've easily been in his 50's. We landed 3 min. early, at 10:00, and taxiied to the terminal.
The end...
...just kidding FlyCharleston
CHS Airport
When we got to CHS, we arrived at Gate B-1, in the middle of the B concourse. I was actually expecting the CHS airport to be more like ACY, a small airport with a few gates. It was actually bigger than I had expected (and bigger than CHS makes it sound), with a good amount of variety and a perfectly sized terminal. After leaving the plane, we left the airport to go rent a car, when we had a fun 2 nights in the CHS area!
