    What an amazing trip!!

Luckily, everything was running on time, and I got to the airport in enough time to get emergency exit row seating.

SAN-LAX - N916SW - Poor flight attendant kept getting interrupted in her pre-departure speech by the planes taking off. Why they didn't close the door until afterwards, who knows? Short flight, and we got a gate at LAX, not a remote stand.

LAX-ORD - N199UA - A very new Boeing 747-422. I think the only empty seat on the plane was the middle seat in my emergency exit row!! That made the flight VERY comfortable. Midway through the flight, I asked one of the flight attendants if I could visit the cockpit after we landed. Yep, I not only got to visit, but I got to sit in the jumpseat!! Thrill of a lifetime!!

ORD-LAX - N215UA - You can certainly tell United is shifting their three-class 777's to international service. This plane was new, but only a two-class. No PTV's, but still comfortable, and yes, they showed a movie.

LAX-SAN - Well, this got cancelled. United drove us to the commuter terminal at SAN. Scenice route, and very little traffic (thankfully!!). I'm still trying to get the 500 miles of credit, but considering how fast they had us on alternate transportation, I won't split hairs.

I had a great trip, and had great luck - the thunderstorms in Chicago and the rest of the midwest took more than a day to get caught up from. My flights ran right on time.

Why didn't I fly SAN-ORD? One word for you - BORING!! SAN only has wide-body flights to ATL (1x762), HNL (1x763), and for the summer, OGG (1x763). Everything else is 757/737's, A320/319's, and MD-80's. If United doesn't really care how I go, why not fly a 747?

Actually Dl uses 763s too to ATL. I actually like the variety of aircraft that serve SAN. I would also rather fly the through LAX. It sucks flying to hub cities as your Final Destination because you usually dont get a connection, unless you work your way around that as I said.

Some aircraft that fly to SAN are:

        A319(UA/F9/US)
        A320(UA/JB)
        A321(US)
        B727 (Cargo only)
        B737(200/300/400/700/800/900)(WN/CO/UA/AS/DL/Sun Country)
        B757 (NW/CO/UA/US)
        B767(200/300)(DL/HA/AA)
        EMB 120(UEX)
        CRJ(200/700/900)(DL connex/YV/F9/UEX)
        MD-80(82/83/88/87)(AA/DL/AM)
        MD-90(DL)
        DC-10(FX)
        ERJ (135/140) (AE)
        SF3 (AE)

Thats the most current but we have seen larger aircraft such as 777, 742, and 744
