On the third of June I found myself running through Philly international trying to catch my flight that was leaving in about 25 min. After barely making it through the gate I notied that I was not on the 757 that I was expecting for flight, it was a good old MD-88 (Darn!!!!) On the bright side though I was able to see my first Southwest Aircraft in person (737-700W).
Delta
FLT: DL517
Equipment: McDonnell Douglas MD-88 (Substituted for 757)
Departure: 6:40 am sched. 6:50 am actual
Arrival: 9:04 am Sched. 9:10 am actual
Who can say anything bad about Delta's MD-88 fleet? I could in this case. As we began pushback from gate E1 in Philly I noticed that the airconditioning in the cabin was not blowing like it usually was. As I called a flight attendent over she informed me that half ogthe A/C system would not start. Isn't that just great? here we are getting ready to take off and the plane in not at 100%! Anyways the flight was very un eventfull beyond the A/C. As we taxied to the active I managed to get a glipse at terminal F (the USAirways Express Terminal) To notice the E-170 sitting at a gate ( Remember this for later!). The service was about average for Delta. The usual Peanuts and Coke (Which I can not eat on Atkins). The interior was in descent shape. I noticed some rips in the fabric of the chair infront of me, not to mention the 3 springs that I was sitting on. The F/As were very nice. I was used to this as I almost always find some time during the flight to talk to them about their experiences as F/As. As we landed I could not but think about the magnificent bird that had just left the Delta fleet, the MD-11. As I looked out the window towards the Delta Mainenace and guess what I saw?

Sorry for the poor quality (Only had the old small Sony digital cam out!)
What I would give to get one more flight on one of those beauties!
Delta
Flt: DL4371 Operated by Atlantic Coast Airlines
Equpment: ATR-72
Departure: 2:55 pm Sched. 3:30 actual
Arrival: 3:45 pm Sched. 3:50 actual
As I walked over to terminal D, after eating lunch, and wondering through the International Terminal, I noticed that ASA shared this terminal with it's big brother Delta, cousin SONG, and enemy USAirways. As I passed by the two gates that USAirways occupied in Atlanta what was sitting at the gate but the very same E-170 that I had seen in Philly! I wish that ASA operated the E-170 (or anything bigger than the ATR-72!). I also decided to walk down and see if there was a jet at the song gate. WOW I did not expect all of the colors! I like the Song gates. they make me feel happy, but allas there was a Delta 738 waiting to go to Kansas City at the end of the Song jet bridge. So I finnaly sat down at my gate and saw a crj sitting outside of my gate! ASA operating a CRJ to Chattanooga! Thank god! Oh wait O forgot that ASA operated like three flights at a time out of every gate in Atlanta. And there it was the good old ATR-72., and wouldn't you know it I saw my bag being loaded into the plane, and then nothing..... "Ladies and gentlemen we regret to inform you that Delta flight 4371 is delayed because we are waiting for a crew to arrive." Why does ASA do this every time that I fly them home? Don't they learn anything from their sister company, COMAIR? They are always so efficient. As I boarded the wonder finnaly 35 min late, I was just happy that they did not do the usual thing and cancel the flight and combine it with the next outgoing flight to Chattanooga. As we taxied out again I remembered what I saw on the way in and managed another photo

Again sorry for the poor quality.
Once in the air the pilot announced that we would be in chattanooga in about 25 min because he was going to go "full blast" all of the way. ASA served their usual bottle of water, and before I knew it I was at home.
Overall: 8/10
Aircraft Experience: 6/10-
MD-88 was a disapointment, but the ATR was up to snuff with it's usual loudness and shaking.
Flight Crew 8/10-
MD-88 crew was great they told me what ever I wanted to know. The ATR crewe was a little cranky and short winded as the flight turned out to be so quick
Airports 10/10-
Gotta love the appearance of the E-170x2, the 737-700W for Southwest, and the usual Crj-700s in ATL, along with the Song gate.
Stay tuned I take the return flight this Thursday!
