Last week I went to SJO (San Jose Costa Rica). I had the chance to visit to new airports for me: LIM and SJO. Here is my report

Sunday early morning, I wake up at 4 AM. Brief bath, took my luggage I went to Ministro Pistarini International Airport (well know as EZEIZA or just EZE). The counters assigned to this flight are located on the new terminal 1, a really nice terminal. Checking took close to 45 min because TACA has two flights to LIM, just 10 minutes away one of the other.
After migrations, I could see at the boarding gate several aircraft so different regional destinations that takes connections from the log haul flights. Besides both TACA flights to LIM (A319s) I saw a 733 of RG, a A320 of JJ and a MD88 of AR, all of them to GRU, A320 of LA to SCL, 767 of AV to SCL-BOG and several 732 of AR to SCL, MVD-POA and COR-VVI.
Much beeter was to see the big ones who arrived on international flights.
A346 of LH from FRA, A346 of IB from MAD, 777 of AZ from FCO, 777 of AF fron CDG, two A342 of AR from FCO and AKL-SYD and a 742 from MAD.
Departure took several minutes because we were number 4. After departing from RWY11 and we got cruise altitude, snack started. It was based on crackers, hot sandwich and yogurt, nothing special. In the meantime a regular film was showed on 12" TV screen, one every 3 rows.
After movie, captain spoke talking about the route assigned and tat we expect to arrive on time.
Landing was good. LIM was covered. Assigned RWY was 15. During approching, the main flight attendant advised the gates of all the connecting flights, GYE, UIO, BOG, CCS. She didn't give information about my flight to SJO (mhh, bad news are coming). LIM is under reconstruction, so you have to find the aircraft betwen half constructed buildings, trucks, workers and so on. The international terminal is just temporary so you don't have to much things to do in there. But it is enough confortable for a connecting time lower that one hour, as TACA Group used to do.
The transfer from aircraft to terminal is by bus, no jetways are installed. They are waiting the new two floors new international terminal, expected for May, 2005.
At platform I could see several TACA fligths (see previous connections) plus a 732 and A320 LAN PERU aircraft. Several Aerocontinente aircraft were sleeping at the hangar. I didn't see any operations of them during my long (you will see..) time at LIM.
As soon as I got the transit area, I went to a monitor. My flight to SJO, scheduled for 10:45 was delayed for 16:00. TACA officers act very fast, first changing connections for those passengers who need to fly to SJO to get their final connection to the north of Central America or MEX. Most of them were rescheduled through GYE to SJO. Unfortunately, LIM-GYE was completed with those pax so I had to wait to the next flight to SJO, at 14:55, through TACA Peru again.
During my time on LIM transit area, I just wlk aroung trying to see any new aircraft. No huge operations after after the TACA connecting flights took off. Just a couple domestic of LAN PERU and TACA plus a 767 of RG from and back GIG-GRU, LA to BOG-MIA on 767 and to CCS on A320 plus COPA from and back to PTY on 738.

The second leg of my trip was again on TACA A319. My original flight was scheduled on TA7650, codeshare of LR650, A320. the flight was very normal, same kind of meals but a nice movie. Arrival to SJO was a bit delayed, because two big aifcraft were behind us (unless I think that because they seems to be "just arrived" when I saw them after landing)
During landin procedure, again the main flight attendants announce the gates of connecting flights. To much flights for a Central America group. MIA, JFK, ORD and LAX were some destinations. That's really good!!!
After a nice landing on RWY 9, at platform were expecting the TACA conneting flights (A319s and A320s), a Martinair 763 from MIA and a Air Madrid A330 from MAD. And old DHL 727, an american charter DC9 and two IB A319 completed the scene (the IB A319 belongs to IB MIA hub)
Well, I wonder that you have enjoy this reports.
