  • Fear of Flying?

Although all of us here are aviation freaks,
Do any of you still have a little fear of flying?

Was there ever a time when you were on a plane and something happened that made you say I will never get on a plane again?

I know i aviation and flying but i still have a small fear for some reason. Anyone else?

I've never had a feeling where i never wanted to get on a plane again but every once in a while i'll get a little nervous, other times I could spend days up in the air.

Same, pretty much just the real heavy turbulence gets me kinda freaked.

I always get that too. I hate when you first get on and you see all the fire extengushers, smoke hoods for the f/a and all that. It's just some weird feeling I get. It subsides after climbout.

I might be a little erie of flying over water. But once you start learning and studying about airplanes, your kind reassured. And the odds of it happening are pretty slim to nil. It seems like alot, because the media usually blows plane crashes out of porportion.

I have had one incident were there was a malfunction in the rudder, but when it was fixed i got right back on that plane! Half the people that were on it the first time left.

I dont know why some people are absolutely afraid though. If it is safer than driving and their chances of being killed are so much better in the car. Wierd.

I never really was afraid of flying, sure, the thought crosses my mind every once in a while about "what if", but what can you do from the passenger seat.

True that, Flying in a plane is safer thatn a car, train, or boat. Like Jim Carey said "Your most likely going to get in a accedent before the flight, like on the way to the airport"[/quote]

Nah, I love flying. Never get scared. I LOVE turbulance and flying through storms. Im afraid of heights though, unless im in a plane or building.

How does an airline thats going bankrupt sign new regional carriers, launch a discount airline, purchase new planes, AND repaint their fleet? I dunno, ask United.

i'm sure fear for many has something to do with being stuck in a small seat with no control over anything. add to that you're 30K+ feet in the air cruising at 500 mph. that's a bit freaky.
