Only once. For some reason I hadn't flown in almost 2 years and while we were taxiing out I just felt nervous for some reason. I guess I had lost some confidence over those couple years. Never been nervous before that or since then.

In 2001, when I feel nevous the plane using no flap in takeoff at FRA. It was A300-600. This now, I feel nevous when the 3rd engine on UAL 744 are not on.

I was scared after takeoff from Ft. Lauderdale last June. Right after takeoff at about 1,000ft the pilot cut off the engines to a very low power for a couple of minutes until we were pretty far out in the water, I was scared so much, I was holding the seat infront of me!

Yeah they do that sometimes for entrail spacing outta FLL. Your never ever even close to stall speed though...even if you loose alittle altitude in the flap transition its normal.

The scariest moment I had in flight was on a Continental ATR from Newark to Rochester. It was snowing and sleeting out. The plane boarded a little late and then we were delayed while they de-iced the aircraft.

After that, we then waited for nearly half an hour to take off. When we did, I knew something was wrong as it was very bumpy and then the engines were given more power. The captain said that he was returning to Newark as he had too much ice on the aircraft. Apparently, too much time had passed since we were de-iced.

With that, the plane made a very sharp right turn and I could see Newark bay coming right at me from the window. He leveled off and made a very bumpy landing. They taxied back to the terminal and a bus took us back.

After that, I swore never to fly another turboprop and to this day I still have not and this incident was in 1995. Most of these have now been replaced by regional jets much to my delight!

There are very few places I'd rather be than on a plane. The most scared I've been was on a NW flight into DCA when I was in 8th grade. We were flying into a nasty wind and we kept banking left-right over and over as we got lower and lower. Just as it looked like we were going to be another Air Florida into the Potomac, we landed safely.

                Lets see.....

The only time (if any) is when I fly on the SAAB's. Both here in the US, and in Italy. It's not that I can't stand them, but it gets annoying after a while. I think of it as a big toy in the breeze. You loose altitude, bad turbulence......

Well scary bug beater (thats what my dad and I call turboprops) flight was when my sister was flying from minniapolis to toronto on a jazz dash8-300 at night and she said it was scary cause it was thundering and the cabin lights were off so the lightning would be the main aource of light. It was also violently bumpy and someones handbag fell out off the overhead sotage bins!

The only scary time was wen i was on the "free spirit" AC 763 and the pilot powerd down and banked sharp to the left then sharp right and the plane lost altitude to cause i could feel it drop in my stomach! Another was on a AC 762 we were on climbout and the engine was shaking vigoursly!
