. MAS, same thing happen at MH. But just a small number of them are like this. Not only Caucasian but all foreigners will always get the best inflight services from MAS cabin crews. They seem to know which passenger is Malaysian & who is not. They are psykik i guess. Oopps, is my spelling (psykik) correct ?? Sorry my engrish is not bery good too, just like the new guy, what is his username ? something like J-Bird I only speak Bahasa Indonesia here. I think the psykik is the Bahasa Indonesia & the correct spelling for English should be "PSYCHIC", right ? correct me if i'm wrong, i don't have any English dictionary with me now.

Yeah I guess you are right Eddie. But in all my flights with MAS, I, a coloured person have had one incident of such compared to all my flights with SIA. In total, I have flown SIA-8 times and MAS-12 times.
I know they are usually nicer to the foreigners, but my point is simple.
MAS trains their staff for the human touch. SIA trains them to be robots and stiff necks. There is even a hierarchy system among the staff. I have noticed it in almost all airlines. But the SIA crew seem to have the obvious ones. Please do not think I am here to bash SIA but sometimes I wonder whats all the hype about SIA when they hardly have a good service. Once on my way to PERTH, the IFE was out of order and when I asked the crew, all they could tell me was "I dont know".
The food portions have decreased and the standard dropped dramatically.
It is all a fake world in SIA. It is because they are established and the fatc that Changi is a popular hub that gives SIA a good name and people want to fly with them. Their seats are really crammed by the way.

Whatever it is, special treatment exists in all airlines and I believe that is because of the mentality of the staff themselves.

Eddie : You should try flying with Ryanair, the cabin crew always seem to be having a bad day.

Hey, did you know that most of the girls you are chatting with may be are Malaysia girls as most of their cabin crews are Malaysian. :P :P .

Anyway, i have no problem with SQ so far & i really like it. But they have to increase the seat pitch in Economy Class on their B747-400 & all the B777-200(ER) which do not have the spacebeds.

I was shocked to find out the other day that one of the forum members motto has "SIA, a Cramped way to fly". I found that really hillarious.

Anyways, with reference to the Engris......dont worry-lah. This is not a lingusitic or language class. It is the facts that is more relevant and as long as it is conveyed, that is fine.

Yes, you are right Eddie, most of the Singapore Girls are actually Malaysians. Even the Singapore Guys too.

Yes, SIA is a cramped way to fly if you are in Economy Class except on their B777-200ER fitted with Spacebed which have an increased pitch in the main cabin (33"-34") & their Executive Economy Class on A340-500. :P

I heard about the difference of the treatment too- I even heard they have a problem with colored people in general. Just sounds so ridiculous... I'm the typical scandinavian looking girl, but, if I see any of that "treatment" to other people on the flights I'm taking with them, they've lost me as a costumer
Of course you're not bashing SIA- telling other people your opinions and experiences is definitely not bashing
                  Thanks once again =)

I'll make sure to write a report, I've bought a notebook for that purpose only (ok, for this flight AND other flights )
I get the guy thing a lot, especially if people only know my name (Janni Pedersen- must sound like "johnny" or something - it's pronounced "Yannie"... silly scandinavian names )- the "chan" is a Japanese word which is hard to explain- ask J-bird, he must know

To be honest, I've never had the pleasure to fly on Malaysia Airlines, so I can't comment on the SQ-MH comparison...

I can say that I found the seat pitch quite nice though. The flight called for a 744 and a 772ER, and I noticed that the 777 had more legroom. But the 744's legroom was not too tight.

I also didn't feel that the SQ girls were robotic at all. After reading many trip reports before leaving, I wanted to keep an eye open for that. The F/As seemed to be quite joking and jovial, and we chatted for sometime. I guess some crews are robotic, and others are not. Fortunately, none of mine were robotic. On a side note, even the flight crew seemed pretty hands on as they pointed out Long Island, Cape Cod, Massachussetts, the Caspian Sea, etc. I think our Captain was British as he pronounced Singapore as "Singapoow".

PS. The reason I didn't fly Air India is because I just really wanted to go to East Asia for once. We usually just pass thru Europe on DL, KL, AF, etc.

Wow, didn't expect to see so many people who likes Japan or things Japanese here :P Yeah, I think my guess was right, you were using the Japanese word 'chan'. At the start, I thought scandinavians use it too

Yes, -chan is often added at the end of a person's first name / surname, not limited to female but male too. '-chan' can be loosely translated as "small" in English, so that when referred it seems somewhat "naive" in a positive sense. For guys, you can refer them with "-kun" at the end of their first name / surname. "-kun" is mostly applied to male but occassionally to female too, don't ask me why For example, my name is Takashi, I can be referred to as Takashi-kun, Takashi-chan, Tak-kun (short form) or Tak-chan.

Jannie (Yannie) are you a Japanese language student? You need an extra hand with the language ?? just joking!

                            Takashi (J-Bird)

                              ATLcenter,

Next time you want to go to India, take a different routings. So that you can try MAS.
                              example :
ATL - LAX ](DL) - TPE - KUL - BLR (MH)
ATL - JFK (DL) - AMS (KL) - KUL - BLR (MH)
*Join WorldPerks (NWA) so that you can earn miles on ALL FLIGHTS .

                              Janni,
You will fly to SIN on SQ's 772 (with Spacebed), this means you are going to get some extra legroom (33"-34") in the main cabin with the world's top IFE. However on your flight to MEL, you will get the (SRTC - Standard Room Throughout Coach) only.

By the way, J-Bird-MD11, it's pretty confusing, but thank for the explanations.

Eddie, actually, I had other plans for my next two india trips in 2005 an 2006:

Summer 2005: ATL-EWR(any airline), EWR-SIN nonstop, and then to BLR
Summer 2006: ATL-JFK(any airlines) JFK-FRA?-SIN on the A380 if it is ready. If not, then I guess i'm going Malaysian!

[edit]-wrote JFK-SIN on accident, should be EWR!
