    We supposed to fly back to Jakarta today noon but my father postponed the flight back to Jakarta on Qatar Airways because we were going to Kota Kinabalu as my father was going to attend a conference in Kota Kinabalu. Since only Malaysia Airlines & Air Asia fly on this sector, so we decided to fly with Malaysia Airlines because Air Asia is sucks.

    We left our hotel in downtown Kuala Lumpur at 6.00pm by cab (cheaper than travelling by ERL) & arrived at KLIA about 2 hours ahead of scheduled departure.

    [photoid=210207]
    [photoid=10030]

    The airport was already bustling as many of the flights to Europe & Australia depart in the late hours of the night. Soon after we got our boarding passes, we went to the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) to had some drinks. After some chatting to discuss the details of the trip we made our way to the satellite terminal.

    [photoid=337687]
    [photoid=316628]
    [photoid=259986]

    There were only about 170 passengers the time we reached the gate lounge (8.20pm). Boarding commenced at around 8.40pm.

    [photoid=268219]

    This flight was kinda empty (around 180 passengers only, mostly in the Premium section). It is 9.10pm now & they haven't closed the door yet. Soon after the inflight supervisor announces thru the P.A. that we are still waiting for 5 passengers from Kuala Terengganu to join us for the flight to Tokyo-Narita. Several minutes later, the passengers from Kuala Terengganu showed up & the crews closed the door.

    "Tuan-tuan dan puan-puan, selamat datang ke Penerbangan Malaysia pesawat MH0080 pernerbangan tanpa henti ke Kota Kinabalu dan seterusnya ke Tokyo-Narita. Penerbangan kita ke Kota Kinabalu akan mengambil masa selama 2 jam 15 minit dan makanan malam akan dihidangkan. Sebelum berlepas ...... (maaf, terlupa dah)."

    "Ladies & gentleman, welcome on board Malaysia Airlines MH0080, a non-stop journey to Kota Kinabalu & then to Tokyo-Narita. Our flight to Kota Kinabalu will take 2 hours 15 minutes & dinner will be served. Before take-off ...... (sorry, i forgot)."

    "Cabin crews please be seated for take-off"

    The flight to Kota Kinabalu was to be 2 hours 15 minutes & plane climbed to an initial 32000 feet & then 41000 feet in order to avoid the turbulence at 39000 feet.

    "Tuan-tuan dan puan-puan, isyarat pasangkan tali keledar telah pun dipadamkan, walaubagaimanapun, untuk keselamatan anda, sila pasangkan tali keledar semasa anda berada di tempat duduk. Makanan malam akan dihidangkan sebentar lagi, sementara itu, sekiranya anda memerlukan sebarang perkhidmatan, silalah hubungi kakitangan kami, terima kasih."

    "Ladies and gentleman, the fasten seat belt sign has been switched off, however for your safety, please fasten your seat belt whenever you are seated. Dinner will be served shortly. Meanwhile, if you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to ask for our help, thanks you."

    Soon after, the cabin crews came around to offer us 'Orange Juice' & 'Plain Water'.

    They did activate the IFE system even though this is a domestic flight (rather unusual, i hope GA can offer such service too on their domestic flight but it seems that i'm going to be dissapointed). Unfortunately they didn't offer us the headphone. The movies/shows shown on the PTV were completely different from the "Entertainment Guide". By the way, i saw a man asked for the headphone but one of the stewardess refused his request, the reason given was - (Sorry, sir, this is a domestic flight 'blah blah blah', but you still can play the games ). Just in case you didn't know, the guy who asked for the headphone is about 50 years old.

    The menu :
    Appetizer - Grilled Chicken on a Bed of Gado-gado salad

    Main course
    -Coriander Chicken with Friend Noodles
    or
    -Pan-fried Garoupa with Nasi Uduk

    Pepes Pandan Pudding

    Bread Roll with butter

    The meal i got is similiar to this one (the tray is actually larger than this one).
    \

    I had the "Coriander Chicken with Fried Noodles" (the picture is chicken with rice) which was a terrible mistake. The "Fish with Rice" looked a lot better.

    [photoid=338441]
    [photoid=338440]
    [photoid=273038]

    After they have collected all the trays the cabin lights were switched off so that we can have some nice sleeps (by the way, every seats got the blanket & pillow).

    With 15 minutes to arrival, the plane began its descent & levelled off at 22000 feet & then 15000 feet.

    "Tuan-tuan dan puan-puan, kita akan mendarat sebentar lagi, sila tegakkan tempat duduk anda, pasangkan tali keledar dan tentukan meja anda terletak di tempat yang asal, terima kasih."

    "Ladies and gentleman, we will be landing shortly, please put your seat up right, fasten your seat belt & return your chairtable to its original position, thank you."

    Another OJ was offered to every passengers this time (very nice).

    Landed safely......
    "Tuan-tuan dan puan-puan, kita telah pun mendarat di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Kota Kinabalu, sila duduk sehingga isyarat pasangkan tali keledar dipadamkan. Berhati-hati semasa membuka ruang pengimpana di atas. Masa tempatan sekarang ialah 11.30 malam. Semua penumpang transit ke Tokyo-Narita dikenhendaki turun dari pesawat ini, silalah bawa semua barang-barang yang berharga dan juga paspot anda. Bagi penumpang-penumpang yang akan turun di di sini, terima kasih kerana menyertai Penerbangan Malaysia & harap kita akan berjumpa lagi pada masa yang akan datang. Harap maklum.

    "Ladies & gentleman, we have just landed at Kota Kinabalu International Airport. Please remain seated until the fasten seat belt sign has been switched off. Do take care when open the overhead compartmen. The local time now is 11.30pm. All passengers transit to Tokyo-Narita must leave the plane during transit, please bring all your valuable goods & passport with you. For all the passengers who will be ended your flight here, thank you for flying Malaysia Airlines & we look forward to welcome you on board again soon. Till then, Bye.

      Nice review Eddie,

      I can still hear the purser and captain's announcements. Thanks for the memory refresh. In the 772 current 3 class config, the golden club seats appear to be more comfortable than the first class I had. Having said that, they are a heck easier going on 'you know where' than if I was ever stuck in coach.

      Nice report.

              Thanks for all the comments. I really appreciate it .

              By the way, i forgot to say that it was a damn smooth boring flight.However the extremely helpful & friendly flight attendants (especially those MAS Japanese KUL based F/As) made it a very enjoyable flight.

              Opps, yeah, i saw 2 GAYS on this flight too.

                Eddie, a question out of the topic. If you look at one of the photo you have posted here, the Lion Air MD-80 series is sitting at the domestic pier of KLIA. Why is this? Do you know? Or perhaps MAS can clarify this. Do they have domestic flight within Malaysia?????????

                Or is it because the satellite terminal is full?

                  The front gates of A & B are actually International gates too. Some MAS International flights depart/arrive at these gates. Lion Air is the only foreign carrier which always use the gates in the main terminal (i'm not sure why).

                  For example, you are going to Bangkok & the gate is either G or H (front gates only), that means it is actually gate A/B. But as it's an International flight, you can't go to the gate via the "Domestic Hall", just like other International flights, you must go via the "International Hall". After you have passed the immigration counters, normally you will get the train to the satallite terminal (gates C..), but if your gate is either G or H, then you don't have to take the train to the satallite terminal because it's in the main building. Just follow the sign board there & everything will be juuuuuust fine, if you still have problem finding your gate, just ask those MAS ground staffs. But it's very easy to find the gate, so i don't think you will have any problem.

                  After you have found the gate, you have to go thru another "x-ray" again, then you will have to take the elavator to downstairs, then you will realise that you are in gate A/B now.

                  Gate A.. = Gate G..
                  Gate B.. = Gate H..

                  Hope this help.

                      , to be honest, the foods at MAS are suck, but i don't blame them for this, i blame the LSG Skychef instead. I have to say that those foods prepared by LSG Skychef are getting WORSE everyday .

                        Don't worry Malaysia Airlines will get a new menu soon.

                        Actually I found their food quite okay, better than some other airlines.

                          I personally liked the food on MAS flights but I have not flown with them yet since Januray this year. I believe the LSG Skychef came into the picture only after that. So we;ll have to wait and see.
