I got a phone call last Tuesday at work to see if I would be interested in going on a VC10 flight with the Royal Air Force - after a split second I said yes!
Left home at 10am for the 90 minute drive to RAF Brize Norton to meet the rest of the group on the flight. Escorted into the base to the passenger terminals where we did the usual security checks before being taken to the aircraft.
Boarded XV108 a VC10 C1K - still with full passenger seating (rear facing) and waited for the Rolls Royce Conways to start. After a powerful take off, we headed over the North Sea for the first 'customer' to our flying petrol station.
