  • What A Landing !!!

    Location Manchester International Airport (EGCC)
    08-01-2005
    Winding guesting to 50 knots.
    Airline Thomas Cook ~ G-FCLJ ~ 757-2Y0/ER

I would love to hear the comments of the flight crew as they made this approach. Not mention the passengers! I have never seen so many go-arounds in one morning. Ten minutes before this landing an Emirates 777 diverted to Heathrow after his third attempt at landing was aborted.

    Congrats to the flight crew...

Thanks for sharing that with us, I'd love to have been on board! Looks like the crew were battling with the elements but they did a great job considering how many go arounds there were. It reminds me of a heavy landing when I was on board an Airtours (now MY Travel) Boeing 757-200 in Crete in 1999. The winds were gusty and we made a hard landing on the right hand gear. Everthing was perfect until a few feet above the runway, a gust banked the aircraft to the right as we touched down, with quite a thud. Great job my the crew but there were some worried faces!

Touch down at MAN was 11.29z. I did not catch the flight as the wind was that bad I could hardly hear the radio!!

            Great shot BTW Philip
