actually wrote this some time ago but lost it all...so here goes again
Delta Air Lines Flight 10
Depart ATL: 10:00 PM
Arrive LGW: 11:25 AM
Gate E6
Seat 36C
My much anticipated band trip to London finally comes. I actually had to leave for the airport at 4:45 because I had to check i with my band director no later than 6:00. So we left and took the hour long drive from Snellville down south to ATL. I got my e-ticket, waited in a not so long line at international check-in. I walk up hand the woman my e-ticket and Sky Miles card, and I'm booked on the flight back in the same seat and credited with my round-trip Sky Miles. I joined a grop to go to the gate, said goodbye to my parents , and my friends and I went to security. We jumped right in line, and got through fairly quick. I stepped on the escalator down, where a train and a long ride to Concourse E awaited me. We stepped in the last car, and we were off. In all my times being at ATL there is usually a flood of people that get off at Concourse A, but only 5 people got off the train....I was mad because we were crammed in there like sardines. The train continued and finally everyone gets off at concourse E...well...apparantly we weren't the only ones flying international tonight. By the time I got to the gate it was about 7:20 or so...Everyone was off to replinish their stomachs, but I had eaten at home and wasn't hungry...but then again we were getting a meal. I keep looking out the window and thinking there will be a plane there, but at 8:10 there's still no plane...I'm thinking that's gotta be a pretty quick turn around. It finally gets there about 8:30...where from I don't know. I continued with mindless activities, and boarded with zone 6 at 9:45. I took my seat and looked at my menu. We had the choice of chicken or beef...but then it was time for departure...we pushed back to the left and taxied....based on what our GPS system said about our direction I believe we took off from runway 9L. Back to my menu. They came around with meals at 11:40. We had the choice of chicken or beef. I wanted beef, and by the time they got back to us that was all they had....whatever. I thought it was good. We reached our cruising altitude of FL330 aver South Carolina, and I was off to sleep. After a nice 2.5 hour sleep I did some reading and watched our second movie Anchorman. They came around with water quite a few times throghout the night. As the sun rose everyone bagan to wake and breakfast was served, which was a cardboard bagel and a muffin. We flew south of London then turned to the east near the coast and turned for landing on runway 26. We made a fairly smooth touchdown, and taxied to gate 48. I tried to get the reg after disembarking as it was dark in ATL, but no luck. It was in the 1997 livery if that helps anyone. I cleared customs and went off to our charter buses. We left the airport as I gazed into the England countryside. It was quite beautiful...but I was so tired so I slept almost all of the 3 hours to our hotel (there was tons of traffic). We arrived at the Thistle City Barbican and I my week in London started.
It was a good flight, sure makes up for the horrid flight I had to SFO. I had fun there, I'll post my return leg later
