I have never ever ever had an issue with visiting the cockpit, post and pre 9/11. I always head up there and ask the F/A's, no one ever minds. I was even invited up into the cockpit inflight on a Beech 1900D from LGA-PVD aboard USAirways Express carrier Colgan Air. I was the only passenger. No F/A. I have pics to prove it for those who dont beleive me . What a hell of an experience. I was also non-reving so maybe that made a difference? (March of 2004). I was told by the Captain that it is LEGAL per FAA for inflight interaction with passengers on B1900's due to the fact that not all have cockpit doors (only on Beech's). Some have curtains, like Gulfstream in Florida, a few do.

Ya, they let me visit it before departure and once after we stopped at the gate.

That's certainly good to know! Wow, I guess I stand corrected. Is it that simple of a job or do they just work their butts of per each plane?

I flew Air Tran ROC-FLL. Not bad it was o/w. I upgraded because my dad was feeling kind and they gave us a price of $99 in total for 3 upgrades. Once AT gets XM radio that might be the best IFE u could possible have. Looking out the window and taking pics while listening to great tunes. If you have a chance to upgrade I would do so. Just get to the airport early and ask if there is room. It is defintley worth every penny. Nicer seats, more legroom and more drinks= $30. (Also since I only paid $110 o/w so that was pretty cheap)

As for IFE, your best bet is a book...or a window. I don't think FL will have their promised XM radio in the near future.

I flew them before. Once SFO-ATL(RT) on an A320 opperated by Ryan Air, and once on a 737-700 SFO-ATL(RT). Both were great flights. The crew was very friendly, and let me visit the cockpit on all four trips. All the flights were early, and if you want, you can get a pretty cheap First-Class upgrade.

    How's Airtran?

I'll be taking my first Airtran flights this April from FLL-PHL-BOS.

I've been to all 3 airports before so I know what to expect there...(I LOVE PHL!!!!)

I'll be taking Flt 756 out of FLL to PHL and 780 out of PHL to BOS. I'm expecting 717's and stuff so feel free to comment on them.

I'm DEFINITELY going to ask to visit the cockpit too
Working...
