  • Trip to Kauai part 2

Well after a few hours of sleep, it was time to head to the airport. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 9:30am. So we got to the terminal a couple hours ahead of time. We checked in our bags and went to security. Instead of going through the extremely long line the put us on a bus to Tom Bradley International terminal to go through security. After a quick walk through security we boarded the AA shuttle bus. After standing around for a while, the driver finally showed up.
    Airline: American Airlines
    Aircraft: 757-200
    Registration: N193AN

After the little bus ride, we went up and walked over to gate 49 I think. Since boarding had not begun yet, my parents and sister went to get a snack. Then boarding began, we were in group 1 for boarding since we got our tickets from Alaska. On board our aircraft there was a pillow and a blanket waiting for us in every seat. After everybody was on board the safety video was shown. We taxied out to the runway and did a straight out departure over to Hawaii. The air was smooth today for our 5hr and 45min flight. We got a beverage service shortly after takeoff and then a meal service. You had the choice of purchasing a snack box or a sandwich. I started out with a snack box because I wasnt that hungry. Later on I purchased a sandwich, it was quite good. Two movies were shown, as it was a holiday, we saw The Incredibles and Lemony Snicketts:A series of unforunate events. I didnt listen to the movies, instead I listened to channel 3, the classic rock channel.
Here is a photo out over the Pacific:

After what seemed ages, I finally saw land, it was the private island. Then we began the descent. We did a turn and landed. Here are some photos:

and here are the planes at the airport when we arrived. The UA left for SFO not too much longer.

After we disembarked into one of the nicest terminals I have ever seen and been in. It is pretty much an open air terminal.

That concludes part 2. I will post my return trip and the biplane ride later.

Great Report (Parts 1 & 2), combined with the lovely Pics! How was the weather in Hawaii, though?

Weather was good. Cloudy the first two and last two days though. We had rain one day. Kauai is the cooler of the islands.

            Neat report!

            Your 1st time in AA?

You like RR engines and front engine view?

Front engine view in seat is the best!

Nice Report...looking forward to the next part. I would love so much to go to Hawaii, it's so expensive from Chicago thought and we are saving money to go to Europe again, and I think I would rather go back to Europe!

American sure is a great airline, glad they were good on your flight, they were excellent when I flew them from Chicago to Rome. I think that American has great music channels as well!
